"For I know the thoughts and the plans I have for you...they are thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil; to give you hope in your final outcome...your expected end." - Jeremiah 29:11
Greetings! I am excited about the calling on this ministry, Elpis Ministries, Inc. ("Elpis" Greek for "Hope"). This organization has been birthed to "restore hope" by transforming lives! Mission driven, we clearly focus on individuals and families coping with issues that delay personal and developmental growth, in those who are willing and desire change.
Elpis Ministries, Inc. works to provide much needed programming and resources, which in turn establishes platforms of proven means to transform lives.
Our mission is to "build beneficial relationships to meet the needs of a hurting humanity, thereby assisting individuals and families the opportunity to facilitate change, maximizing their full potential".
Because a tool for change entails "cultivating and building relationships", mentoring allows us not to just assist in obtaining needed resources, but it allows us to help individuals and families deal with the "root" of issues and cope with the matters of the heart. By offering guidance, compassion, encouragement and empowerment, we see lives affected by those who desire greater levels of outcomes in life.
In the study of "hopelessness", you find that individuals arrive at this place due to lack of support, resources, and of will and determination. As a result this; hardships, challenges, circumstances and situations, become out of control, and out of their reach of control. It's been too often that individuals have been told "what their problems are and how to solve them". This answer has been given without any assistance or guidance. After being told "no", time and time again... frustration occurs and individuals find themselves living in a place of "hopelessness".
With the understanding that every person, family structure, situation and desired outcome is different -- our organization works with individuals by identifying and eradicating barriers that prevent them from living self sufficiently, or up to their fullest potential. In the process of mentoring, we are building these relationships with individuals and families to help develop skills, behaviors and insights to improve one's quality of life. By exerting a positive influence in change...motivation, performance and bringing awareness in areas of strength and improvement, we are able to see lives transformed.
Our mission is to operate out of the Character of Christ. We do not convert, proselytize nor influence in faith, but we operate out of our faith, believing that all individuals should live whole and satisfied lives, with our responsibility being to "bear the infirmities of the weak". We meet individuals where they are on their journey, and work with them intensively, removing constraints, getting them to a place of self sufficiency, improving their quality of life; with the desired vision of seeing individuals completely "whole"; emotionally, physically, socially, financially and spiritually.
Currently, the ministry has several different programs and services that have become very beneficial to the community and to those we serve. With many collaborating agencies, we are able to identify and meet the needed resources of those we serve. We also work with and outsource our services to individuals who are a part of the Department of Corrections, Department of Human Services, Spectrum Resources Re-Entry Program, Bridges of Iowa, House of Mercy, Ft. Des Moines and the Women's Correctional Facilities, Des Moines Public Schools, MYFI Project, Freedom House, and many other transitional and program housing programs.
We are excited and committed to what God is accomplishing through us! Join us, as we take a journey into the work that God has ordained our heart and hands to do, for those who have found themselves "voiceless" and living in "hopelessness" as we "restore hope" again...moving them from "the hope so...to the know so"!
